PlantCML Celebrates 40 Years of Commitment to Public Safety
Company Reflects on Rise to Industry Leader, Growth through Technology Development and Acquisitions, Advances Next-Generation 9-1-1

Temecula, CA — PlantCML, an EADS North America company, today celebrates its 40th anniversary as the leader in crisis communications and response for public safety. It also reaffirms its mission to develop fully integrated, next-generation technologies, enabling mission-critical operations to interpret, share and act upon all forms of incident-related data in order to protect life and property.

The anniversary comes on the heels of PlantCML’s acquisition by EADS North America, the second largest aerospace and defense corporation in the world, in April of 2008.

“We owe the growth and success we’ve recently experienced at PlantCML to a vision that began in the 1960’s—an unwavering dedication to our customers and to public safety,” said Tim Fuller, president of PlantCML. “Over the last four decades, we’ve been privileged to have some of the best minds in the industry walk our halls and help us carry out that vision. Now we are proud to take these same core principles of excellence forward as we lead public safety communications into a new era.”

PlantCML’s roots can be traced back to 1968 when the company—then named Plant Equipment, Inc. (PEI)—developed single console telephone dispatch systems for utility call centers. PEI spent the next few years advancing existing and innovating new call center technologies while simultaneously expanding the solutions to other industries.

In 2006, the company merged with Canada-based CML Emergency Services, an industry leader in emergency communications technology, to form what is now PlantCML. Since that union, PlantCML has served as the single largest supplier of crisis communications and response systems for public and private safety, providing solutions to thousands of mission-critical operations throughout North America.

Following the merger in 2006, PlantCML continued to build on its position as market leader by acquiring three other companies in the public safety space:

  • DCC (Dialogic Communications Corp.), industry renowned provider of emergency notification technology—2006

  • TCI (Tel-Control, Inc.), a provider of networked and hosted E9-1-1 solutions—2007

  • Sigma Communications, LLC, developer of the patented REVERSE 911® emergency notification system—2007

PlantCML’s solutions are now staples of Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) from coast to coast. The company’s call processing, incident and records management, Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), data management, networking and emergency notification solutions are used by thousands of public and private safety operations—over two-thirds of the U.S. public safety market—as well as military bases, airports and utilities.

PlantCML offers Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1)-capable solutions, which are Internet Protocol (IP)-enabled products designed to meet the new non-traditional call-taking and dispatching needs of mission-critical operations. The NG9-1-1 suite of solutions provides PSAPs with an open path for future transition into a total IP-based call center. It also sets the stage for PSAPs to migrate from conventional call handling and response operations toward more of a command and control environment.
